The new MaxxSpeed (2023) is Maxxis’ top-shelf, high-performance rubber specifically for XC racing.

• Composition: It is a high-silica content compound.

• Performance: It is engineered to both reduce rolling resistance significantly and enhance wet traction.

• Race Advantage: Compared to the previous 3C MaxxSpeed, the new compound has approximately 25% less rolling resistance in lab testing.

• Real-World Impact: Internal testing shows this compound can potentially save up to a minute over the course of a 90-minute race.

Casing and Protection Technologies

Casing Specification

• The standard high-performance casing is 120 TPI + EXO, which is highly recommended for XC race use due to its light weight and durable structure.

EXO Protection

EXO is a lightweight, densely woven fabric material added to the sidewalls of many Maxxis mountain bike and gravel tires.

• Function: Provides cut- and abrasion-resistance to the sidewalls.

• Impact: The material is highly flexible, which ensures the tire’s fast-rolling performance remains unaffected.

Tubeless Ready (TR) Technology

Maxxis Tubeless Ready (TR) tires are essential for modern XC racing and offer multiple benefits by eliminating the inner tube.

• Tire Marking: Tubeless Ready specifications are clearly denoted with a “TR” marking on the sidewall.
